Your process shouldn't be delayed because you can't get the wear parts you need. Smooth operation is what you want and need. At Columbus McKinnon (CM), a new In-Stock Guarantee promises shipment of CM's most common wear items in "three business days or less." "If we fail to ship any in-stock guaranteed item on time the customer will receive five per- cent off their next order for those items that did not ship, the Sarasota, FL-based equipment maker said in announcing the program. CM's In-Stock Guaranteed products include shredder knives, wearplates, wear lines, primary wearplate, tie bars, lubricator knives, knife bolts and miscellaneous parts, including primary wedges and rotor wearplates. u Northern Ireland Issues Report on Used Tire Disposal The Northern Ireland Assembly Commit- tee for the Environment has published its final report on its Used Tyre Inquiry, in which it makes a number of important rec- ommendations for the future management of used tires in Northern Ireland. The Committee's recommendations include an enforcement approach that focuses on illegal activity; an examination of exemptions from waste management licenses; and compliance inspections prior to waste management licenses being granted. As a longer-term measure, the Commit- tee considered a producer responsibil- ity scheme, whereby producers would be responsible for the safe disposal of the tires they produce. The Committee has recommended close liaison with the Re- public of Ireland on this, noting that any such scheme would be counterproductive unless introduced in the Republic, too. As a short-term measure, the Committee has recommended that all sectors in the used tire chain be required to register with a compliance scheme to enable better track- ing of used tires. To address the lack of traceability of tires coming into Northern Ireland, the Com- mittee has called for a more robust system for quantifying the number of tires coming into Northern Ireland and clear informa- tion on where those tires end up. Another issue that the Committee focused on was the administration of the volun- tary used tire levy. Committee members wanted to know what happens to the money that is collected through the levy, and to ensure that those collecting the levy are disposing of the tires properly. The Committee has therefore called for powers to enable the Department to regu- late the collection and use of the levy. u
